PSA: The early puzzle Failing Scales is poorly presented. The scales are not weighing the sugar incorrectly, and the lighter gray lines are not "lit up". It's just asking which two single-digit numbers would become different numbers that are one higher and one lower, respectively, if you remove the lower left section. (as opposed to becoming gibberish)

The art is beautiful and the game ran on my device flawlessly. Unfortunately there is no overarching mystery to keep me engaged and the "puzzles" were well below par. It shows after the passing of Akira Tago who was the puzzle designer on the previous games. Even the dozen little mysteries that make up the game are boring, shallow and obvious. It was a chore to finish. If you're on the fence, skip this one. It's not important to the Professor Layton continuity.

It's a great game, but it erased all the items I'd transferred from the real-world puzzle solving site, that launched a month before the game itself. And now I can't get those items back. This happened after the app virtually reset itself - in the middle of my playing it. It's a good app, but that's a serious problem that I hope doesn't happen to anyone else.

I would love this game but im stuck at the very begining because it wont let me ride the bike. I have reached out for help but recieved no reply.

Feels just like one of the classic Layton DS games. Overall, great fun and a density and craftsmanship that's uncommon in mobile games. Yet, the writing and voice acting made me visibly wince on numerous occasions, and the Mysteries you solve were wicked predictable. Almost all of them were solving eye-rolling coincidences or miscommunications rather than true detective work. Likewise, the puzzles leaned heavily on the "Lateral Thinking" side, presenting you with a very intriguing and solvable puzzle as a woeful misdirect for an answer that was technically correct in the most aggravating way. Gripes aside, highly recommend for fans of the Layton series and puzzles in general.

I Adore this. The layton series is one of my favorite games and this one let's me go on a new but familiar adventure. While I'm sure price is a bit up there for a mobile game for some of you its worth it for the lovable characters and puzzles. The only painful thing about the app is that it takes up a gig and change on my phone.

FINALLY a game worthy of the Layton franchise. Played all the previous Layton games, except the 3ds ones. I know it will be just as fun, if not better than the others. Thank you for making this a reality.

A great addition to the Layton franchise. Katrielle Layton is a nice character and the game is meant to introduce her to the franchise and show her journey into establishing herself and the detective agency she's opened in London. I like having the option of cloud saves so you can move your file between devices. Overall I'm very pleased with the game and very interested in seeing where Level-5 takes Katrielle's character in her next installment.

This is the only mobile game I have paid money for, and I don't regret it! I did read that this is the same game as what will be released on the 3DS later - if it hadn't been, I wouldn't have purchased it. I'm a 3DS lover, including games like Phoenix Wright, Professor Layton, and even the cross over. The mobile version of this game appealed to me because it would be easier to take my time with the game and seek out all the puzzles and coins if I didn't have to carry my 3DS around and wait for it to start up. The daily changing puzzles also appeal more to my use in mobile than checking my 3DS every day. The only things that were hard to get used to were the smaller screen size and not being able to use Memos with a stylus. The finger is troublesome for me, so I end up just scribbling notes down on actual paper when needed. But I find myself enjoying this game more than the original Layton game! It's charming, but doesn't feel too geared towards young children or anything, and some puzzles can be too tricky for them. I personally love the graphics and drawing style, and I love dogs, so this is a real hoot for me. Having tons of fun!
