Description & Details

Navigate, communicate, and get things done. Just talk to your Google Assistant.

The Google Assistant app provides another way to launch the Assistant that’s already available on your phone. It allows you to quickly access your Google Assistant with one tap. You can still access your Assistant by pressing and holding down your home button or by simply saying, "Ok Google."

Remind yourself to send a birthday card, make calls hands free during your commute, and unwind by playing your favorite tunes. You personal Google is here to help. Ask your Google Assistant questions and get things done. Use it anytime, anywhere.

With the Google Assistant, you can:

• Make quick phone calls on the go ("Call Mom")

• Send text messages ("Text Sara I am running late")

• Set reminders ("Remind me to buy a birthday gift for John")

• Take a selfie ("Take a selfie")

• Set calendar events ("Set a calendar event for dinner with Charlie tomorrow from 7-9")

• Play music ("Play jazz music on YouTube")

• Navigate places ("Get me directions home")

• Weather information ("Do I need an umbrella today?")

• Receive updates on the latest news ("Tell me the news")

* Your device must still meet the requirements in order to use the Google Assistant (Google Search v7.11 or higher and minimum memory requirements).

* You do not need this app to use the Google Assistant if you already have the Google Assistant on your device.

Google say the Google Assistant supports personalization, however, that's one of the areas that needs significant improvement. For an example, why can't I call my Google Assistant by the name of my choice? Next problem: Google is innovating in isolation. For an example, there's no way to select or copy the Google Assistant conversations. Why doesn't Google ask what peeps wants to do with Google Assistant through UserVoice or any other platform of their choice? Why can't Google build software enabled hub with Google Assistant to enable IoT communications from any device supports Wi-Fi/Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth LE or LTE? Next is a hardware question, but why can't the flagship phones ship with ZigBee or Z-Wave hardware support just like LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth?
I have already signed up to Google beta version. And my Lenovo K6 power gas inbuilt Google Assistant. And so I don't need this. But it is best way for the people who have not Google Assistant and one more thing it can't capture selfies but it can open any app like camera or music. And it has more data than Apple's Siri. LOL😂😂😂 SIRI dies not know the population of India... Siri can only gossip and open some apps . LOL. Apna Android zindabad......🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

Not able to operate on Moto x 2nd gen even though list of requirements is met. That's zero ability to use but since it's the 1st release I'll still give 2 stars for the concept and fact of finally making it a downloadable app.

I don't trust this thing now. I was just watching a video on YouTube about things you can do with Google Assistant and the guy in the video was saying OK Google to unlock his phone in the video.. but suddenly Google Assistant on my phone responded.. I don't think it's safe to enable voice unlocking with Google Assistant.

Would be great if I could use two languages simultaneously. As English India doesn't support features like Unofficial Pokedex, but can't switch to English US either as it doesn't recognise the vernacular terms (city names etc) which English India does. Please provide such an update. Anyway 5 stars for the genius Google Assistant is.

My review got disappeared, I installed the app day before yesterday and it was working well on device Redmi 4... But today it was stopped working later in evening I got to know that I need to enable it from Google app... Why it in first place got disabled and then every time I open assistant app and give some command like make a call or set reminder it takes alot of time to calibrate... Response time got increased and buffering happens alot... Both in online and offline mode... Please help... Fix this issue... Same app is working well on my all new and old devices...

This seems to be a shortcut to the Assistant that resides in the main Google app. This is useful because it eliminates the need for a home button long press or saying Ok Google. The microphone button on the Now Launcher only does a simple Google search; it doesn't open Assistant. But with this app you can place a shortcut on the home screen. This app is also useful for Tasker automation.

needs work!!! Have it make a sound when I activate and deactivate it. Make it appear faster when I want it to. I have to hold down the home button for at least 1 seconds before I can speak and that is if I have a good internet connection. I hate the white background, consider transparent instead. Voice still sounds robotic. History can't be cleared.

The Google Assistant brings the power of Google into a contextually aware Assistant that is good at helping you get things done. Unfortunately, Google thinks that they should offer the Assistant to only select devices being Android Phones (6.0+), iPhones (iOS 10+), Android TV devices (6.0+), and most confusingly iPads (iOS 10+). This makes no sense. Why does Google support iPads, but won't support Android powered tablets. This is ridiculous and completely unfair. Google, why do you do this to your loyal fans. Apple fans can use Siri on their iPads and Amazon fans have Alexa on their Fire Tablets. Why don't Android fans have access to Assistant on their tablets?
