Description & Details

Life is in motion, your memories should be more than still photographs.

Motion Stills is an app from Google Research that lets you capture short videos and transform them into beautiful cinemagraphs or sweeping cinematic pans using our advanced stabilization and rendering technology. Create looping GIFs or combine clips into movies that you can share with your friends! Use Motion Stills to:
• Capture a short 3s clip with a simple tap or condense up to a minute of video into an easy-to-watch clip using the Fast Forward mode.
• Share your Motion Stills as looping GIFs or videos directly with your friends.
• Create movies by combining clips with a simple swipe to the right.
• Browse your recorded clips in a stream, or flip through them one-by-one and watch them auto-play.

  • Best new Android and iPhone apps (late July, 2017)

A new week starts and what better way to celebrate it than freshen up that ole phone of yours with some new apps, straight out of the oven? Yeah both the Play Store and the App Store get hundreds of new pieces of software poured into them on a weekly basis, so it may be a tough job to forage through them, but don't worry, we do that on your behalf.

Now the issue is with flash, thr app should provide flash for better capturing capabilities. Even when using front camera, the image is very dark even though there is sufficient light in the room( tested on 3 phones with different specs). #Only issue is with deleting the file. Tha app crashes at that time.

Works good for a nice basic animated gif. Stabilizer option works really well and the new back and forth loop if grrat. Would be awesome if you could implement the Samsung Galaxy camera feature of painting areas that you want animated or frozen as there is quite a bit of noise in certain scenarios. Needs an option to have extended capture time as it doesn't record long enough. Maybe just let you record as much as you want and then have the ability to do a simple trim during edit

Nice and simple once you work out what the buttons do. Crashes quite a lot, could do with some guidance and needs to transition between light and shade rather better. Otherwise a good start and great to see regular updates!

I think the gif creator is great... But the option to change the length would be the clincher. Three seconds isn't enough. Also, the front camera comes out really dark.. in low lighting, it's almost black!

Crashes on deletion, can't export gifs or videos because it gets stuck at 52% Edit: Delete crash fixed. Looping still freezes exports but without it, it works fine

Why make this if you can't delete or store your photos? Basic stuff missing. Lots of crashing on Nexus 6p

Great app. One issue I'm having is the app not being able to actually perform the loop back and forth feature ... When enabled the video stops in preview and if i try to export the operation stops midway and never continue. Please fix and update.

Disapointed, I love the photos it takes and was super happy to see this on droid finally. Cant post gifs to Tumblr from this app or any photos for that matter. Everytime I try when I get to the attach step an old photo that Ive deleted comes up like Im trying to post that one. Now to post gifs on the blog I have to use gif taker in tumblr or use another app where the quality is nowhere near that of motionstills. Ill be waiting for an update to come out to see if it gets fixed. Boohoo.

I'm glad to see the app to come to Android but it is not as nice as the iPhone version. A big difference would be to let us import Gifs taken with the regular phone camera from the gallery.

the image quality is excellent. the gallery is a bit difficult to navigate with only up/down scrolling--REALLY needs integration with Google Photos for backup. would be great to integrate with Google Camera.

It does not show anything that I see in the screenshots. On my Samsung it doesn't appear to do anything; nothing happens with I tap the screen or swipe anywhere. For my HTC, it is incompatible and won't install
