Description & Details

Your home in your hand

At Nest, we make products that are beautiful, thoughtful and easy to use. The newly redesigned Nest app is no exception.

Control your Nest Learning Thermostat, see your home with Nest Cam and Dropcam, and know if Nest Protect goes off – all in one place. And get notifications on your phone, tablet or Android Wear watch.

Nest uses sensors, algorithms and the location of your phone to do the right thing automatically, like turning off the heat and turning on the camera when you leave. And everyone at home can get notifications and control the Nest products they need with their own Nest Account – no more sharing passwords.

- Get alerts when there’s activity, and talk back to get someone’s attention.
- See what you missed with snapshots of the last three hours.

  • Nest App Gets Better Notifications, App Shortcuts on Android | Droid Life

Today, Nest will push a new app update to Android and iOS that should improve the notification experience from your cameras. It’ll also add app shortcuts on Android, for those running Android 7.1 Nougat.  As Nest notes in its blog post about the new app update, some times you don’t want notifications for everything. To help … Continued

Nest is introducing two new features for owners this week – Family accounts and Home/Away Assist. Love some of the features but the simple ones you would think is standard isn't. Controlling by app and easy to use is great. The weather popping up when i walk by is cool. But.... no 'Hold' and you have to have the a/c or heat selected to turn on just the fan. I turned off the smart scheduling because it would set the temperature to random degrees, it kept thinking we wanted to go from energy saving 76-78 to 68. Also turned off the feature that auto switches home away, i tell it manually we were away and it would switch to home before coming home.

Been using the app since I bought my Dropcam in 2014. Recently added a Nest thermostat. App features are fine but at no time since I've had it has the Home/Away assist ever worked correctly. I receive constant alerts when I'm at home of my own activity when the camera should shut off. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, etc. Just does not update location correctly. Samsung Galaxy Note 5. Android 7.0.

I used this app for about six months. It worked sort of. Very slow and buggy. I couldn't run other apps or games well. Pokemon Go would freeze up or crawl. After removing the Nest app it is like I got a new phone. Games run fine. Phone is much more responsive. I would love to see this so work better without showing my phone. Until then I am uninstalling.

love the nest! but the most recent update (as of 6/29/17) has completely broken the app for me. it sits on the home icon and rapidly refreshes trying to log in, but is never able to. even tried logging in and out, as well as reinstalling the app. :( can't find a way to roll back to previous working version.

Stopped getting push notifications on android about 3 weeks ago. Spent a good hour on the phone with tech support (add another 15 min. on hold) and no resolution. Tech support said I would receive his contact info via email. Didn't happen. Supposedly passed up the chain for engineering to look into. We'll see.

Everything works great until you change your WiFi password then you have to go through initial setup of all the installed cameras. I have 4 cameras and some are not easy to reach. If you can change the app to just change the WiFi password and not go through initial set up I'll definitely change the rating to 5 star

I've had a Nest for about 3 years. They have added no features (software based) to it. Really, only 2 weeks of history? Auto away does not work, it will still try to run the AC when I'm in a completely different city.

I hate the minimal use I get without paying extra monthly. I just wanted a simple camera that I could check in and to check out the Nest products and app. But I can't get rid of the constant 1/2 screen add to upgrade. It is hard to rewind. I guess I would like it better if I just paid for another monthly subscription. On top of the $200 I spent for a single camera.

Lastest update messed up the app.. Screen just flickers and the Nest logo has a glowing circle around it and says trying to connect. After a while it fails... It worked great until the update on 6/29/17. Please fix soon!

I know it's "just tech" but I kinda want it faster than what it is. 6-10 second delay from the time my doorbell is pressed, to the time I'm alerted from the app is too long! Not to mention the person entered the frame 2 seconds prior pressing bell! And of course, it's always the other guys fault. It's the wifi network, it's the cell company, and I shouldn't expect more. But I do. I would have invested into hardwired system if Nest advertised that it takes 6-10 seconds. Other than the delays, they system is great! The app is well built. $10/mth for 1 camera is steep, $15 for 2 is crazy. There is another company selling 10+ cams for $100/year!! All this on top of hearing Alphabet was trying to sell Nest! Not leaving me feeling very confident in my investment of 3 cams, 1 therm, and 6 protects! I shouldnt have stayed loyal and went to Z-wave!

I have different sets of passwords for different accounts with different levels of securities. I don't need to put my top level password such as bank account or email account password on a stupid thermostat! Do not force ppl use complicated password for such a dumb thing. You don't need that high security level! Used WiFi set up a token can simply verify house owner's phone.
