A lot of people seem to make the assumption that this is SOLELY an app for voice chat. It isn't. You can view your Splatoon rankings, order exclusive gear to pick up in game, view map timings and other such related content. The voice chat is fine now that the app has been updated with a fix, but there are much more better ways of chatting over the internet. Hopefully when more games take advantage of this app, it will keep getting better and better.

This app is taking features that should be on the Switch itself and moving them to my phone. Maybe the Splatoon2 schedule and stats are nice to look at on mobile, but the stats and Voice Chat should be available in the game itself. I want to be able to just pick up my Switch and hop online with friend s without worrying about my phone. In addition there is no ARMS or MHXX support, where is voice chat for ARMS and MHXX? Without convenient voice chat and convenient online play I will not be paying for any Nintendo online service s.

You're really holding off on switch potential compared to the ps4 and xbox one. It's not too complicated, Nintendo. At least make some actual good switch games before releasing this app. As of right now the app's only function is splatoon 2, so why not include splatoon in the title since that's all this app is for the next year?

I love Nintendo, and wanted to love this app... no matter how bizzare it looked. I tried to like it, I really did, but as reviews have said already, not being able to use voice chat natively on Switch or send messages to each is a huge miss. Gave 2 stars because SplatNet 2, the embedded Splatoon 2 app, is really well done. Hopefully Nintendo will see the constant flow of negativity in these reviews & give us console party chat. Until then, I'll go back to using party chat on PS4 whilst playing on Switch 😊

This app is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. You should be able to create lobbies on the console and skip having this pointless app altogether. Voice chat should not be limited to when you are in game and should not be tied directly to a second device. This app lacks many features that are standard for all other consoles such as sending messages. I only upped it from 2 to 3 stars because of the addition of voice chat while other apps are in use, which should have been here from day one

Nintendo are either out of touch or wilfully ignorant of the voice chat problem the Switch has. I'm willing to go with the latter, because there is no way they think this is a real solution. Nintendo fans will still buy the consoles and have to take what they get, that's seems to be the attitude.

Unfortunately this is not how you implement a voice chat in 2017. No one wants an additional device to meddle with. It's perfectly possible to make this all work on the console itself, why go with the less intuitive route for the user? The app itself seems to be well-made, and has a clean and smooth user interface.

Honestly, I'm more than fine with paying for online unlike most Switch users seem to be. I mean, it's only 20 dollars for a year. However, this app is the most ridiculous, obnoxious, inefficient way to go about voice chat. I love Nintendo, but they really need to stop being lazy and just add the features this app offers to the console itself. Well, minus being unable to use the voice chat if you open up something else like a game lol

Honestly, why on earth was the Switch designed without these features built-in to the unit itself? If I'm paying almost £300 for a console I expect it to do what all the other systems do. But nope, Nintendo syndrome always hits somehow, and with the system it's the poor social and online integration. I know the Japanese struggle with the western market as a whole, but Sony managed to build plenty of systems in the new age, but we forget at the end of the day, Nintendo snaked Sony so this is just karma.

The app is pointless and a hassle. It should be integrated into the system. Just another step I'm not willing to do and unfortunately will not use voice chat. Please integrate this on the system it would make it souch easier than all these cables and extra stuff that you need just to talk to friends. We pay 300+ dollars not to have to use our smartphones to talk to people online. Nintendo, please fix this...

As a computer engineer, the idea of the voice chat function being implemented in an external device is baffling. This was such a bad design choice and whoever proposed it should be fired. I can't think of any reason that voice chat should have been implemented on an external device. The Switch is such a great console, but Nintendo still seems determined to make some randomly bad design choices. Nintendo, if you are listening, remove the voice chat function from this app and patch it into the OS on the console. I want to see the Switch succeed, but you seem determined to be your own worst enemy.
