Description & Details

Navigate, communicate, and get things done. Just talk to your Google Assistant.

The Google Assistant app provides another way to launch the Assistant that’s already available on your phone. It allows you to quickly access your Google Assistant with one tap. You can still access your Assistant by pressing and holding down your home button or by simply saying, "Ok Google."

Remind yourself to send a birthday card, make calls hands free during your commute, and unwind by playing your favorite tunes. You personal Google is here to help. Ask your Google Assistant questions and get things done. Use it anytime, anywhere.

With the Google Assistant, you can:

• Make quick phone calls on the go ("Call Mom")

• Send text messages ("Text Sara I am running late")

• Set reminders ("Remind me to buy a birthday gift for John")

• Take a selfie ("Take a selfie")

• Set calendar events ("Set a calendar event for dinner with Charlie tomorrow from 7-9")

• Play music ("Play jazz music on YouTube")

• Navigate places ("Get me directions home")

• Weather information ("Do I need an umbrella today?")

• Receive updates on the latest news ("Tell me the news")

* Your device must still meet the requirements in order to use the Google Assistant (Google Search v7.11 or higher and minimum memory requirements).

* You do not need this app to use the Google Assistant if you already have the Google Assistant on your device.

  • Best new Android and iPhone apps (November, 2017)

Another month has passed, just like that, and with it — another zillion of apps has been introduced to the Android Play Store and iOS App Store. As we do each month, we combed through whatever notable offerings we could get our hands on and picked out some of the best new apps that you should check out, either because they are useful, fun, or just plain interesting to see.

  • Google Assistant gets released in the Play Store, but it's just a shortcut of the app

Not especially useful for those who already have Google Assistant installed on their smartphones, but at least you're offered another option to trigger the digital assistant if that's what you've been looking for...

On Xiaomi devices latest MiUi and Android 7.0 there are some options that are not available like creating shortcuts and changing your assistant's voice and so on. Not sure if this is only happening with my Phone.. And you should be able to teach your assistants new command without the help of a third party app like IFTTT.. Otherwise this App has changed my life.. Keep it up.. Hoping for more development..

I don't know when but it seems you guys have taken away the play music option. When I say play music to assistant it triggers and plays some music in my list. But now. This was the most useful when I'm driving or working and my hands are full. Bring this option back. And make it open the default player. Not just your limited Google play app.

The difference between Google Now Google on tap Google assistance is getting confusing. It is possible to be using either one and not know the difference and then to be abruptly shocked when certain functionality is not yet available. A better example of this is when you try to identify a song assistant may not be able to do that but on top or Google now would be able to do it this needs to be corrected.

Works great, as long as all the connected services play nicely. The latest update of Google assistant on my Nexus 5x running Oreo has made it impossible for IFTTT to connect for some reason. I used to be able to voice control whatever I wanted with my phone, now - not so much.
Half of the features don't work on Pixel XL. You can't assign a default music provider. You tried to creating a message to it and it just stops and closes the app. It uses about three different voices when sending a message. Randomly says "message sent" at the strangest times. When you say things like goodnight it says power is not supported? Randomly forgets things like home control settings temporarily. Needs a lot of work.

I like this, it's quite fun! I personally would prefer to just have the Google home as I used this more in home and it seems quite close to it but I still quite enjoy it! The games are fun and I love that you can send and receive texts through it. I wish you could customize the open command to be something you want rather than 'Ok Google' but I'm sure I can get used to it someday.

The app is great when it works. I own Google home and have used this feature on iPhone as well... However on my mi a1 it has not functioned once without crashing.. so android one is actually no good

I am using Google assistant app from REDMI Note 4 with Android Nougat. But suddenly now it does NOT recognise the "Ok Google!" opening Command to be switched on. I have tried deleting my voice model and retraining it. But I am stuck to the training page as the app fails to recognise my voice. Please suggest a solution ASAP.

Galaxy s8+. Since the update i can no longer actually turn on trusted voice. When i hit done it makes me put in pattern then goes right back to same page. Infinite loop of trying to hit done to finalize the setting then "verifying identity". FIX WITHIN A WEEK WILL GET 5 STAR

Google assistant doesn't start with OK google voice command, forcibly by pressing home button it gets started. Can't unlock even after enabling. Using Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 MIUI 9 stable version.

Bring back the ability to play specific songs from my library without a f**king paywall you idiots. I have no safe way to handsfree select songs and I'm not paying for it 5 years later.. You got your ads all up in my face and now I have to pay you and look at your stinky ads, no thanks I have sold my Google home because this feature was ripped from it and soon I will get rid of any Android from my home as well, I've been here since the G1 and we have gone forward this whole time, but lately Google seems to be going backwards for an extra few bucks.... The only response you are to give me is an I'm sorry and the date this feature will be back.
